Change Or Chains?

Seems that our newly selected President has a new web site. I find it appalling that he wants to require all Children that are in Middle and High School to do 50 hours of Community Service, you know, like what we have here in Delco for "minor crime" offenders? Don't believe me? Read on: America Serves "When you choose to serve -- whether it's your nation, your community or simply your neighborhood -- you are connected to that fundamental American ideal that we want life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness not just for ourselves, but for all Americans. That's why it's called the American dream." The Obama Administration will call on Americans to serve in order to meet the nation’s challenges. President-Elect Obama will expand national service programs like AmeriCorps and Peace Corps and will create a new Classroom Corps to help teachers in underserved schools, as well as a new Health Corps, Clean Energy Corps, and Veterans Corps. Obama will call on citizens of all ages to serve America, by setting a goal that all middle school and high school students do 50 hours of community service a year and by developing a plan so that all college students who conduct 100 hours of community service receive a universal and fully refundable tax credit ensuring that the first $4,000 of their college education is completely free. Obama will encourage retiring Americans to serve by improving programs available for individuals over age 55, while at the same time promoting youth programs such as Youth Build and Head Start. If I remember my history right, didn't Hitler start his "Hitler Youth Movement" in the same fashion, by rewarding those who "serve their community"? And to think I was all in a bunch when I heard that Bush wanted all children to have mental health screenings.. Cheers.

  1. Kids need to get off their McDonalds bloated asses and out from behind the video game displaying television and do something. Don't be the A Typical whiner apologist. Many nations require kids getting out of high school to serve a couple years in the military (called conscription) or to serve in a civil capacity, it helps them develop as people who actually contribute versus being like many American kids these days who just magically expect good fortune to drop from the sky into their laps, "I'm gonna be a pro basketball player" yeah, then what happens?

  2. Really now. So your saying that the new chimp in charge should reinstate the draft? Conscription? Die for what country? Not America.

This country was founded on freedom. Freedom from persons who wanted to rule over others. Obama seems to want to do just that, by forcing children (It's called Indoctrination) to "serve" the GOVERNMENT. The Government should be serving US.

    I call it Communism.

  3. No, I'm not endorsing military conscription, just mentioning that many other nations in fact have it. If a kid can't afford college tuition and has the opportunity to perform public service for a period of time in order to EARN funds to be then put towards educational purposes, why not do it? You call it Communism ? I bet you've never even stepped foot on the soil of a communist country, I have, so stop talking out your ass as if you know what it's even about. The govt wouldn't "force children" to do anything, if they wanted to serve in a civil capacity, they'd have the opportunity, if they wanted to continue playing video games and wondering what they're going to do for the next 5 or so years, they could still do it. If your expecting the govt to serve you, heh, that's an awfully long line your in there buddy, good luck with that.

  4. There is a point to the 50 hours of community service a year(which could be an hour every weekend). That was to get kids used to it so when they go to college and they have the opportunity to earn 4,000 DOLLARS in scholarship money for 100 hours community service it is something they are used to. 4,000 is a great amount of money for students to go to college, especially community college which is essential for a great America.

What does that say for the thousand of children who would choose a skilled trade that doesn't require college? After all, America's professional jobs have already been outsourced to other countries thanks in part to Clinton and then Bush.

P.s. Nice pick Obama made on choosing a dual national for his White House Chief of Staff. Let's see where America is this time next year.

  7. It seems like President-Elect Obama doesn't have much faith in Americans to do good deeds on our own. He seems to think its the government's job to make us. It's not. We can handle our own community service and charitable work, thank you.

  8. I feel your pain. I could spit everytime I see TV "news reporter" go into some classroom to interview kids working on some "community" project. Usually a grinning idiot posing as a school teacher looks on approvingly. What are the kids doing? Regardless of the project it is invariably "giving back to the community." Aaarrrgghhh!

Worse is the fact that kids are now being educated to be good global citizens rather than American citizens. Even that is a euphemism. We have become American subjects and, while Obama calls himself a "citizen of the world, we will be subjects of the world government.

I saw in your profile that you are interested in the NWO. I think you might find my blog lostliberty of interest to you. I was new to blogging and didn't set it up to be as much an ongoing journal as a repository of history with some of my thoughts added. I usually suggest either a reader take it in small bits and digest them before coming back for more, or just copy the info to their own files.

  9. Fran, I read your blog and respect your opinions but don't understand why you refer to the president elect as the "New chimp in charge". Does that mean that GW was a chimp as well? He kind of looks like Curious George, the little monkey:)

  10. Lorraine, I hope you and Franny don't mind if I presume to answer that question for him. Opponents of Bush were constantly calling him "the chimp," although I thought he looked more like a lizard. I suspect that's the reason for the reference to Obama as the "New chimp in the White House."

Anyway, the reason I came back to comments was to add something I'd forgotten. I liked that "change or chains." My comment throughout the campaign was that both McCain and Obama were sincere about wanting change. Waahington has stolen all of our dollars and now they want our change.

Another new saying you might like came from the candidate of the Constitutional Party (no connection to the old Const. Party of Pa.)whose name is fairly well known but I can never remember. He said the choice this year was between the evil of two lessers.

  11. Lorraine, I referenced Obama as the new "Chimp in Charge" as a way of saying that he was selected by the powers that be. BOTH so called "parties" have big business controlling them in my opinion.

Yesterday, the stock market took a dump yet again. Trillions of dollars are being given to these America Rapists.. and our children will pay dearly for it.

It's 1:40 am as I type this. Why am I up? No work tomorrow. Kinda sucks to be self employed with no health care.

Anyway, i respect your views as well as Phreedom and Aaron, Eliza, and others. Feel free to post replies, and if you or anyone else wants to join as a contributor, shoot me an e mail on my profile.

    Cheers.

  12. Congratulations. Pressure from bloggers like you and other forms of the new media got to the Obama administration very quickly and they removed it. Keep in in the back of your mind. It will reappear.
