Airplanes Over Delco

It seems that no power on earth can stop the FAA from implementing the new flight plan over Delaware County, Our Congressman, Senators, and State Legislators have run into the immovable Federal bureaucracy. Your advice to buy earplugs, though facetious, is what we have been left with as an alternative.Beyond the noise the added flights will cause, who will we call if a tragedy happens. I'd love to have that number. Are we who live in Delaware County so unimportant that saving time for travelers will endanger our good and hard working people. My question is who profits from this action? Who is behind this push to serve the few while hurting millions. I don't have the answer, but I know someone does. The implications of this decision will have long lasting and negative effects for everyone who lives in Delco. I called the FAA to find the person behind this misguided action, needless to say I was "disconnected". I applaud Andy Reilly and Joe Sestak for fighting the good fight, and I find ridiculous suggestions to cause delays at the airport. What I do know is that I don't want to live in a flight path and if someday I'm in a position to join those working to fight this catastrophe I will work for our community. Meanwhile, Editorials, hard working officials and citizens who will make their voices heard is the best chance we have to stop the FAA.

  1. The County Council is still fighting. They will be filing a lawsuit on behalf of the County residents.

It appears that Sestak and Lentz said what they needed to say to get elected, but in the end they are no different.

  2. Beating the FAA on this has always been a long-shot, and Weldon never made any progress. Sestak's efforts with the GAO may still bear fruit.

Andy Reilly isn't fighting this any harder than Sestak. Of course Council is filing a lawsuit. That was always the next step.

  3. How about us residents of Delaware County starting an independant class action lawsuit to stop this?

Another class-action lawsuit filed over Navy jet noise

  4. We voted for change. Nothing has changed. Those two made a bunch of promises. We're still at war! They didn't change anything. They fell right in line. We need a new party...The Truth tellers!

  6. Joe Sestak had the opportunity to do something about this last month when the FAA funding was being considered. A congressman from NJ introduced an amendment to kill the NJ/NY/PA airspace redesign plan. Sestak didn't even sign on as a cosponsor and then couldn't even get Congressmen Brady or Murphy, both Democrats from neighboring districts, to vote for the amendment. After the amendment lost, Sestak went ahead and voted FOR the FAA funding for this project. The GAO study is absolute BS (they have no power to do anything). The fact is, Weldon had the pull to get this thing killed (say what you want about his foreign policy and intelligence positions, he did have juice). Sestak is being used by the Democrat leadership as their uniform-wearing, ant-war toadie. They aren't even rewarding him with this simple request. Reilly and County Council have been the ones battling this project. If they don't win it won't be for lack of trying (and it will be because Delco has no juice in Congress).

  7. How about if all of us who wish to stop the flights over Delaware County drive to the Philadelphia airport at 3:00pm on Friday, Dec. 21 to tell the airline corporations that WE LOVE DELAWARE COUNTY JUST THE WAY IT IS. I think if enough of us drive there they won't ignore us!

  8. I am sorry to say that I have to retract my suggestion yesterday to drive to the airport since I have been told this is possibly illegal.
